HIGHER DRAMA: DRAMA SKILLS

IMG_1003

Congratulations to our Higher Drama pupils who presented their Drama Skills performance today.

Using the stimulus ‘Belief or Disbelief’ they each created their own scenes for a site specific performance at The Clootie Well in Culloden Woods.

Many members of the public stopped to observe, and were very impressed at the professionalism demonstrated by the performers. The National 5 pupils attended as audience and loved the atmosphere that was created. They are completely inspired for doing their own Higher Drama Skills next year.

Well done everyone!

Now, FINISH YOUR WORK BOOKLETS!!!

HIGHER & NPA THEATRE TRIP

download

Some of our Higher and NPA Drama students travelled to Edinburgh last week to attend a production called ‘Flight’ by Vox Motus Theatre Company, which was part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Pupils were seated in their own personal booths with speech and music conveyed through their own headphones. The action was shown through hundreds of beautiful, hand crafted models that moved in front of the audience. A truly unique and ground-breaking style of theatre.

Pupils were left ‘speechless’ by the powerfully moving piece.

Pupils were also very fortunate enough to be given a post show discussion with Candice Edmunds, Co Director of the company. Candice told us all about the process of writing and creating, and about taking risks with new, original ideas. The pupils were very inspired by this and we hope it will help them as they come to develop their own dramatic work as part of their upcoming coursework.

Check out the website for more info here….

OUT OF THIS WORLD BY MARK MURPHY’S VTOL

‘A life and death love story’

Ellen has been in a car accident. She’s disorientated, in pain, and her husband Anthony is missing. As Ellen descends into a medically induced coma, she knows that she has to escape in order to find Anthony but time is running out. She has a heart-breaking choice to make – her life or her love.

Out Of This World is action-packed theatre from acclaimed writer and director Mark Murphy. It’s a powerful love story set within a world of projected film and animation, featuring groundbreaking aerial choreography, explosive special effects and intense storytelling.

Mark Murphy is celebrated for his signature genre-defying work, and ambitious, large-scale outdoor events including the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games closing ceremony.

AND BETTER STILL…..

Eden Court are offering a ‘Pay What You Can’ deal

Out of This World has been receiving rave reviews and Eden Court would like to enable as many people as possible to experience this world-class theatre show. Eden Court CEO Colin Marr says;

‘The show isn’t a straightforward drama or play, it’s part drama, part visual spectacular, part physical theatre and being able to bring something so different here to Eden Court is really exciting. We don’t have access to enough of this type of work and we simply want as many people as possible to experience it. Above all though, what we’re really excited about is appealing to people who’ve never been to the theatre before so that they can see first- hand how incredible and diverse it can be. If Out of This World is the first thing you ever see in a theatre then we are supremely confident a lifelong love of live performance will follow!’

How does Pay What You Can work – Simply book your tickets as normal through the booking link below or by calling Box Office on 01463 234 234. Then after the show go to Box Office and pay what you can – that’s it! Performances are on TUESDAY 16TH AND WEDNESDAY 17TH MAY AT 8PM.

TEACHER CONGRATS!

barbara punch
Following on from the AMAZING success of her first published novel, ‘Fir For Luck’, your Drama Teacher Mrs Henderson has only gone and secured a second publishing deal!

‘Punch’ is the name of the new novel, which is set in Victorian Scotland. It follows a boy who seeks refuge with a travelling puppet show after being wrongly accused of causing a fire. It is based on a real blaze which occurred in the Inverness Victorian Market in 1889.

How inspiring it is to be working with, and learning from, such a talented story teller! Congratulations Mrs Henderson!
