SCOTLAND – COLLEGE COURSES
HND ACTING AND PERFORMANCE
This is a nationally recognised qualification allowing students with experience and/or genuine interest in acting and performance to develop their advanced skills in voice, movement, acting and stage craft. By taking part in performances in the College Studio and Theatre as well as in the community, students will work co-operatively in teams experiencing opportunities for leadership, and take part in innovative and creative approaches to work in rehearsal and performance.
An exciting new course is in the making also; BA HONS Rural and Contemporary Performance.
The distinctive BA (Hons) programme aspires to explore, make and take forward performance in the Highland region. It has been devised to ensure that the study and making of performance in the Highlands is reflective of the specific challenges and opportunities presented to creative practitioners in areas of low urban density and mixed economy.
Performing Arts Studio Scotland is part of one of the largest colleges in Europe and based in the festival Capital of the world… Edinburgh. Full Time courses in Acting, Dance, Stage Management, Costume and Make-up Artistry. All courses are accredited by SQA and are fully funded by the Students Award Agency for Scotland. Students train in a creative, state of the art faculty which houses its own Theatre, Dance and Acting studios, Make-up suite and costume workshops.
Past Graduates have appeared on various television shows including Dr Who, Waterloo Road, River City as well as working for The National Theatre of Scotland, Traverse Theatre, Lyceum and The Citzens to name a few. Graduates have worked for Lady Gaga, Matthew Bourne, Kylie… the list goes on!

BA/BA (HONS) ACTING FOR STAGE AND SCREEN
This course will provide vocational and industry relevant training through exploration, centred on acting for stage and acting for screen, and on the craft and practice of performance.
BA/BA (HONS) DRAMA AND PERFORMANCE
Drama and performance is an exploration of the many processes that exist to support performance in all of its many guises. It examines the vocabulary, concepts, history and theory of the creative process.
BA/BA (HONS) COSTUME DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
Costume design and construction is the process of creating and manufacturing clothing and accessories for performers in theatre, film, television and other associated media sectors. Costume designers and makers research, design, source and construct costumes for real or fictional characters, creating practical, bespoke items relevant to historical period and style.
BA (Hons) Acting and English – Undergraduate, Full-Time
Train as an actor while exploring English literature, and gain a deep understanding of the relationship between text and performance.
BA (Hons) Acting for Stage and Screen – Undergraduate, Full-Time
This vocational, advanced entry course will give you the skills to take a leading role in the entertainment industry.
BA & BA Hons (Performance)
The Drama UK recognised Performance degree at University of the West of Scotland introduces the skills required to secure successful careers in a variety of roles including acting on stage and screen; directing; writing for stage and screen; producing original theatre; musical theatre; and working collaboratively with community groups.
BA & BA (Hons) Broadcast Production Television and Radio
The BA degree in Broadcast Production programme is tailored to the current broadcasting industry, combining practical and theoretical elements. The degree course is taught at the Ayr Campus, by staff with extensive working experience in the industry, Broadcast Production teaches you how to make and how to understand television, radio and other digital media. The practical production of television and radio programmes is linked to the study of media theory.
BA & BA (Hons) Film Making and Screen Writing
The professionally accredited Film Making & Screen Writing course at University of the West of Scotland, which incorporates industry experience opportunities, gives you the chance to make your own films and write scripts whilst studying classic and cult films from around the world.
Full Time BA & BA (Hons) Technical Theatre
The Technical Theatre degree offers a thorough vocational training for those who wish to work in theatre stage management and technical theatre production. This unique programme (the first of its kind in Scotland) is delivered in partnership with the Gaiety Theatre in Ayr, giving students the opportunity to work in a professional theatre environment.
Foundation Courses in Acting & Musical Theatre, Commercial Dance and Popular Music – a great starter course to gain more experience of your discipline before applying to an Undergraduate course.

TWO YEAR PROFESSIONAL ACTING COURSE
A two year intensive training for a professional acting career. The minimum age is 18 and there is no upper age limit.
The course includes comprehensive career guidance and a graduating season of public productions in London theatres, with a West End showcase at the Criterion Theatre in front of agents, directors and casting directors.
